The Farm
Nestled in the foothills of Gold Country between the wine appellations of Shenandoah Valley, Fair Play, Fiddletown and El Dorado, our farm grows high quality gourmet mushrooms. We use organic methods, natural pest control and our energy is solar derived. Our mushrooms are grown in clean mountain air using well water. We pride ourselves in providing home chefs with exceptionally fresh and nutritious produce.
Heather Auch
With fond memories of growing up climbing trees, raising animals in 4H and visiting Apple Hill, Heather has always loved the wide open spaces of El Dorado County. After receiving her bachelors in genetics from UC Davis, she worked in fungal laboratories producing enzymes for environmentally friendly products ranging from alternatives to acid washing jeans for the garment industry to increasing the efficiency of bioenthanol production from agricultural waste products. Passionate about providing healthy food for her family, she started dabbling with growing mushrooms in her garage and founded the El Dorado Mushroom Company with her husband Robert.
Robert Shambarger
Robert grew up spending weekends and summers in the the Napa Wine Country and enjoying the farming environment. After a career in the technology industry Robert decided to move with his wife Heather up to the foothills of El Dorado Country to enter the agriculture industry as a Gourmet Mushroom Grower. Robert earned his Bachelors from the University of Denver and MBA from Keller Graduate School and has spent the last 25 years working as a project manager and people manager in IT. Now transitioning that experience and skill set to becoming a grower and purveyor of produce for the gourmet mushroom lovers out there.
